We hope everyone had a great time at Redmond’s 75th Annual Derby Days this past weekend! For those of you who missed it, a good time was had by all races, parades, the carnival, concerts and much more.
For those of you new to Redmond, Washington, or those of you who had to miss it this year, we’re going to give you the Redmond Derby Days rundown.
What is Derby Days?
Redmond Derby Days started in 1940 as a parade and bike derby for the community as a way to raise money for bike equipment and holiday decorations. It quickly became an annual tradition and now marks the town’s celebration of its diverse community. Derby Days is two days of races, rides, games, music and food celebrated in the spirit of competition
With fireworks and events galore, it’s hard to choose just one favorite moment of Redmond Derby Days. But there’s one high-speed event you just can’t miss: The Criterium. The Criterium is a bike race of the crazy kind involving multiple laps on a closed course. Laps are short, less than one mile, and demand a different breed of bike rider who can handle both speed and precision handling skill.
We’re proud of our little town of Redmond. It’s a blissful place to both live and visit.
