The Hydro FilterSilk™ inside the Hydro Vortex™ filter will trap the free floating light weight debris that isn't heavy enough to settle downward into the settling cone. Both the settled debris, and the trapped debris, are easily backwashed out of the Hydro Vortex™ filter during a HydroFlush™ or ElectroFlush™ cycle.
Standard Hydro Vortex
Waterfall Filter
The "Standard" version of the Hydro Vortex™ Waterfall Filter features one or more Inlet Vortex jets, a Vortex Chamber, a Settling Cone, a Bottom Drain with Clean Out Valve, Upper and Lower Diffuser Grates, a Media Chamber, Hydro FilterSilk™ media, and a waterfall outlet.
"Standard" Hydro Vortex™ filters are manually cleaned with pond water.
HydroFlush™ or ElectroFlush™
Self-Cleaning Back Systems
The Hydro Vortex™ Waterfall Filter with either the HydroFlush™ or ElectroFlush™ Backwash System has all the same components and features of the "Standard" Hydro Vortex™ filter but with the addition of a 3-Way HydroFlush™ Valve, a Froth Jet on top of the Upper Diffuser Grate and additional piping and fittings.
The Hydro Vortex™ filter in the diagram above is shown in "Filter" mode. The ElectroFlush™ version is the same as the HydroFlush, but with motorized valves that open and close at the "flick of a switch!"
