The inlet pipe also allows the Piper HydroClean™ Pond Skimmer to easily attach to standard 4" or 6" PVC pipe - flexible or rigid - for unparalleled remote installation capabilities.
Remote skimmer installation makes for a much nicer looking pond, and gives the designer options like no other skimmer. Don't have an electrical power source near the pond for the pump? No problem! Many brands of pond skimmers on the market feature filter pads that are under water by as much as 15". Easy Plumbing Installation
All Inlets and Outlets are "Pre-Installed" on HydroClean™ Pond Skimmers. This makes for simple, quick, and easy plumbing attachment inside, and outside the skimmer.
The Piper HydroClean™ Pond Skimmer features 3 Interchangeable 2" Outlet Ports that are Female Threaded inside and outside the skimmer walls. The Piper HydroClean™ Pond Skimmer also has a ½" Inlet Port for the simple, quick, and easy installation of an Automatic Water Fill Valve. Plugs are included for the Ports that you may choose not to use.
Having threaded ports means that all connections to the Piper HydroClean™ Pond Skimmer are not only water tight, they are soil tight. Why is that important? Skimmers get installed underground. If the plumbing connections entering or exiting the skimmer are not "soil tight", then soil falls into the skimmer. Every time it rains, you'll be washing soil into your pond through the skimmer's plumbing openings! So when comparing brands of pond skimmers, look to see how the plumbing lines enter and exit the skimmer body. If they aren't soil tight, you'll be constantly removing soil from your skimmer, filtration system, and pond. Multiple Plumbing Options
The Piper HydroClean™ Pond Skimmer gives you a choice of 3 Interchangeable double-threaded 2" outlet ports. One on the left side, one on the back side, and one on the right side of the skimmer body.
This allows you to choose which direction you want the plumbing lines to extend to and from the skimmer.
The Piper HydroClean™ Pond Skimmer's double-threaded outlet ports also let you plumb two pumps inside the skimmer and still have the third outlet port available for an overflow line.
Each outlet port is "double-threaded", meaning that they are threaded inside and outside the skimmer wall for easy plumbing attachment. No drilling of outlet holes, or special tools are required to attach bulkhead fittings like in other brands of pond skimmers. When comparing pond skimmers, always ask: "How do I install the plumbing lines?".
All Fittings Installed by Hand
All the plumbing fittings get installed by hand directly to the Piper HydroClean™ Pond Skimmers double threaded ports. No drilling holes, and no special tools for bulkhead fittings are required.
Simply apply a small bead of the included 100% Silicone Sealant to the male threads of the fitting, and thread it into the skimmer's female threaded fittings. Simple. Easy. Quick.
Only tighten by hand. There is no need to "over tighten" with large tools as the 100% Silicone dries, it makes a water tight seal.
Once the fittings are attached to the skimmer, simply glue the PVC plumbing lines to the fittings. Simple. Easy. Quick.
HydroClean™ Pond Skimmers are pre-fitted with a double-threaded ½" Inlet Port for an optional Automatic Water Fill Valve. (a plug is included if you choose not install the optional water fill valve)

The optional Automatic Water Fill Valve threads directly into the ½" Inlet Port. The Automatic Water Fill Valve's location within the HydroClean™ Pond Skimmer is completely away from the leaf net and filter brushes so you won't "bump" it out of adjustment during cleaning of the skimmer elements, unlike many other brands of pond skimmers.
As with the other plumbing lines extending to and from the Piper HydroClean™ Pond Skimmer, the fittings for the ½" water line that supply the optional Automatic Water Fill Valve thread directly to the double-threaded port.
Place a small bead of the included 100% Silicone Sealant to the threads of the pipe adaptor, and hand tighten into the port. Simple. Easy. Quick.
