Russell Technologies, a leading provider of innovative pond filtration systems, technology, and pond design concepts brought you the World's FIRST electronic low voltage backwash system for a waterfall filter - ElectroFlush™! The revolutionary ElectroFlush™ Backwash System lets you backwash your Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter with just a "flip of a switch" - as seen in the video above.

How does ElectroFlush™ work? When you flip the ElectroFlush™ Control Switch from "Filter" to "Backwash" two things happen simultaneously. The Hydro Vortex™ Filter's bottom drain valve is opened - at the same time, the HydroFlush™ valve is switched from the "filter" position to the "HydroFlush™" position. This then causes water to not enter the Hydro Vortex™ filter's filtering inlet - instead, water is diverted to the HydroFlush™ Froth Jet at the top of the filter. The Froth Jet™ then forces the water in a skyward direction. The water then mixes with oxygen as it falls back on to and into the Hydro Vortex™ filter. Because the filter's bottom drain valve is open - the water falling back onto and into the top of the filter rinses the filter's media - Hydro FilterSilk™. Debris that has settled out of the water and from the Hydro Vortex™ filter's Vortex Chamber into the Settling Cone, - along with particulates and detritus captured by the Hydro FilterSilk™ are flushed downward and out the drain. The ElectroFlush™ System uses your existing pump and pond water to quickly, and efficiently rinse your Hydro Vortex™ filter without harming or disturbing the biofilm.
